Project Management Process:

Gather Content:

Copyediting:

Apply layout and edit articles, send back to authors for review and revisions, and apply feedback.

Brand Guidelines:

Understanding brand guidelines must be able to scale across multiple marketing and publishing projects. I needed to establish a traditional style that reflected an academic brand vision. I established a brand marketing kit to articulate the brand voice that included: a purpose statement, primary and secondary messaging, defined key terminology, marketing personas, and graphic design guidelines.

Logo design:

Researched campus landmarks and other brands in academic or museum-related fields and experimented with traditional and vector drawing styles to find the most flexible solution. After determining the historic University columns would be the primary iconography for the design, I started designing logos with ink mediums to represent traditional art. I then converted the design into a vector for scalability. A black and white color scheme was chosen to give the most flexibility and cost-effectiveness in a variety of printed materials, while maintaining a classic and elegant style.

Stakeholder Management:

Finalized edits with Communications Director, Museum Curators, and Museum Director. Conducted weekly meetings with Museum Director to discuss each stage in the design process, eventually bringing final design concepts to museum staff for feedback.

Results: Implemented new brand guidelines with cohesive copy, thoughtful layout design, and a new logo that resulted in strengthened brand identity.
